Jim Carrey Hit With Wrongful Death Lawsuit Over Late Girlfriend

Cathriona’s husband Mark Burton is suing for wrongful death and violation of the drug dealer liability act, E!

The suit reportedly says: ‘This is a case about Jim Carrey using his vast wealth and celebrity status to illegally obtain and distribute highly addictive and, in this case, deadly, controlled substances’.

Burton’s lawsuit claims that after her death, Carrey attempted to “conceal and obfuscate his involvement and culpability in Ms”.

According to the complaint, Carrey gave White highly addictive painkillers while knowing full well that she was “ill equipped” to manage the drugs outside of a doctor’s care. Her death was ruled a suicide and a note was found addressed to Carrey.

Cathriona White overdosed nearly exactly a year ago, on September 24, 2015, when she was 30 years old.

The lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles by Mark Burton, an OR man who was married to Cathriona White, 30, at the time of her death, when she had been in a relationship with Carrey.

Burton accuses Carrey’s assistant of knowing that White had not left the house “for well over a day” sometime after entering it September 24, and of not immediately notifying the authorities despite a conspicuous lack of movement.

He claims that Carrey never followed through on his promise to pay for White’s funeral expenses and that the actor’s PR team coordinated a campaign to protect his reputation.

According to her autopsy report, White overdosed on prescription pills in September 2015 and was found with a note written to her on-again, off-again famous boyfriend. He said the Ambien, Percocet, Propranolol and Zofran were not in the her name.

Carrey served as a pallbearer at White’s funeral in her native Tipperary, Ireland on 10 October, 2015.

I guess the big question here is: Does Carrey really deserve the blame in the death of White?

The suit goes on to accuse Carrey of sending a bogus text message to White, after she had already died, “pretending as though he had misplaced the Drugs and insinuating White may have taken them from Carrey without his knowledge” in order to cover his tracks. “I’ve spent 3 days now in disbelief that you’re not here. I’m just not for this world”.

Carrey’s publicist could not immediately be reached for comment, according to AFP.

A statement from Carrey would be forthcoming, his representative’s office said Monday afternoon.
