Jim Harbaugh gets reprimand, fine for comments
The Ohio State Buckeyes have won five games in a row, including five straight over MI, to close out the season with an 11-1 record. No. 2 matchup earned an 11.5 overnight rating.
Harbaugh publicly criticized the officiating in U-M’s 30-27 loss in double overtime and said the officials cost the Wolverines a spot in the Big Ten title game.
The victor of the Big Ten Championship could have a path to the College Football Playoff. Ohio State was No. 2 in last week’s Playoff rankings.
The answer will be revealed December 4.
And Ohio State, which was ranked No. 2 this week in the CFP, has wins over the No. 3 (Michigan), No. 6 (Wisconsin), No. 8 (Oklahoma) and No. 16 (Nebraska) teams. That means Ohio State can relax at home next week and wait for the unveiling of the final playoff rankings next Sunday. “It’s a very, very good defense we faced”.
The Big Ten was well within its rights to reprimand him and fine MI. A rabid Ohio State fan, James has been on the sideline at Ohio Stadium in the past, but not for a game he said is on his “bucket list”.
“Then I hugged President Barron, kissed Molly, I kissed Sandy”, Franklin added, “and then I told President Barron that he was getting a kiss too whether he liked it or not”. What was far more costly to MI was blowing a 10-point fourth quarter lead in a game it dearly needed.
Barrett kept it on fourth down and slammed into the back of his blocker, A.J. Alexander, right at the line to gain. Who knows what the committee will do, but the Big Ten is making them work and certainly putting the 3-year-old system to the test. With the freshness of that non-fatal contention still in mind, the two future football powerhouses came together in 1897 and played the first of their 117 games.
Two penalties called all day [on Ohio State]. “It’s like we always say, this goes way deeper than football”.
The other issue for the committee is whether MI belongs among the top four, despite having two losses.
James has more than a rooting interest in this year’s game. Coach Jim Harbaugh said his team lost only because of poor officiating, and afterward players made a case for their inclusion in playoff.
Alabama and Western Michigan are the only two remaining undefeated teams in the country.
