Jimmy Carter fights cancer, keeps Sunday school teaching
Jimmy Carter is prepared. Like all Americans, we wish Carter the best with his ongoing treatment.
The first person lined up at midnight and some followers drove hours to attend, local television reported. Jane Gurley, of Hendersonville, N.C., has her photo taken at a mock Oval Office while visiting the hometown of former President Jimmy Carter in Plains, Ga., Saturday, August 22, 2015. I believe Jesus would approve gay marriage, but that’s just my own personal belief.
“Those issues, to me, are still facing the state, so I certainly wouldn’t rule it out, but I can’t tell you for sure”, Carter said. “A mighty fine teacher”. He plans to continue teaching Sunday school at the small Baptist church he and his wife, Rosalynn, attend.
“That’s enough of that subject”, he said before beginning the lesson on faith, love and personal relationships. That pushed the limits of the law, so the church said never again. Today, space is at a minimum. As people get older, they increase their likelihood of developing cancers.
“It’s God’s will”, she says.
Denice Gamper came to Plains from Brooklyn, NY.
She said she felt humbled by Carter’s message.
Carter underwent a procedure known as stereotactic radiation on Thursday.
In Plains, Georgia, hundreds of people lined up outside the Maranatha Baptist Church Sunday in order to listen to former president Jimmy Carter deliver his 689th Sunday School lesson. Many couldn’t be seated in the church’s main sanctuary.
Still, about 200 people are left outside. They were taken either to a spot in the Fellowship Hall or to the old school house a mile a way in town. In the meantime, Jason Carter said he expects his grandfather to spend time with his wife and do a lot of fishing. The lesson started with Carter asking where everyone was from. “I think everyone should have a right to get married regardless of their sex”. Pancreatic cancer is often hard to diagnose, and is one of the most deadly forms of cancer.
When taking on the obstacles cancer brings, Carter actually lives what he teaches at church, making lessons more powerful, Shoulta told People.
The day before, he received his first dose of a recently approved drug to help his immune system seek out and destroy cancer cells that may develop anywhere else in his body.
“We’re not looking for a cure in patients who have a disease like melanoma that has spread”, Curran said.
According to CBSNews.com, Carter taught two Sunday School classes on August 23.
“How would the world be changed if everyone…Syrians, Iranians, Israelis, Palestinians”, he said, then paused, “….Republicans and Democrats, (laughter here) adopted Christ’s definition of Love”.
Even there, a handful of people are locked out. Colby and Larry Sparkman of Hattiesburg, MS were among them.
As I was reading the August 23 article “Christie: grow army“, it became clear that Gov. Chris Christie is so obsessed with being president that he has no consideration or care for anyone or anything else.
“Just catching a wave as he walks out”.
“Hopefully the girls can wave at him”, she says.
