Jimmy Fallon and fellow late night hosts pay tribute to David Bowie
That’s because, with the exception of Conan O’Brien, all of today’s late night hosts came into the game after Bowie basically stopped doing interviews. “He was fun and always amusing”.
Conan O’Brien remembered the legacy of David Bowie through the late singer’s sense of humor and his appearances on O’Brien’s late-night shows. Of course, once The Monkees became a smash hit and he has competition for the name, he changed it. He claims he then became Tom Jones for “a couple of weeks”, before that singer surfaced as well. “So, in remembrance and I guess to remember the man, David Bowie”.
The 41-year-old presenter started his show with a discussion of how shocked and upset he felt at the passing of the musical icon, who died of cancer on Monday.
“Such a lovely man”, O’Brien said after the montage.
Few mentions were more touching than “The Tonight Show’s” Jimmy Fallon, who called the rock icon a “one-of-a-kind singer, songwriter, actor, fashion icon, mad genius”. “Here it is, your moment of zen”.
Jimmy finished by telling his audience to get Blackstar and to “play it loudly and just thank him”. Always go a little further into the water than you feel you’re capable of being in. “Go a little bit out of your depth, and when you don’t feel that your feet are quite touching the bottom, you’re just about in the right place to do something exciting”.
“The Late Late Show” bandleader Reggie Watts paid tribute to David Bowie by wearing Bowie’s “Aladdin Sane” lightning bolt makeup.
