Jimmy Fallon to host “Golden Globes”

Or at least, if you must drop down on El Lay on Sunday, don’t ruin any of those gorgeous red carpet dresses we all can’t wait to see!

The Golden Globes have taken on more prestige in recent years. It’s like a trailer of the Oscars. Mahershala Ali (Moonlight), Viola Davis (Fences), Issa Rae (Insecure), Donald Glover (Atlanta), Courtney B. Vance (The People v. O.J. Simpson) and Thandie Newton (Westworld) are favorites to score golden statuettes on Sunday. It’s worth tuning into, since Jimmy will be trying out his luck, after the ever-so-bold Ricky Gervais and his former Saturday Night Live co-stars Amy Poehler and Tina Fey.

Award-worthy films at Golden Globe Awards are full of romance, but there is also a history of romance behind the scenes, and this time it is for two of the Golden Globes high-profile guests and nominees.

Ahead of the Oscars this year, The 74th Golden Globes Awards ceremony is the first major film awards event that will decide which films of 2016 are the best and the ones that fell just a li’l short of being the best. A flawless entertainer and a comedian, Fallon is definitely going to fascinate the audience. Maybe there should be an award for those of us who sit through an awards show?

Other actors hoping to win this category include Hugh Laurie, the villain of “The Night Manager”, John Lithgow for “The Crown” and Christian Slater for “Mr”.

The only thing we love more than newcomers stealing the show, is massive comebacks and Sarah Jessica Parker has truly done it again with Divorce.

Nonetheless, it’s still a treat to see a little more competition.

Who won the Lifetime Achievement award?

Among its nominations, La La Land was also cited in the best actor and actress in a musical or comedy categories for, respectively, Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone.

Musical “La La Land, ‘ indie grief drama ‘Manchester by the Sea, ‘ and black coming of age film ‘Moonlight” are leading awards buzz in a season that has been dominated by small, intimate fare. Don’t be surprised if Mel Gibson might slip in there for a win for Hacksaw Ridge. This movie was just released, but they seem to like Denzel at the Golden Globes. Sing Street has only one nomination in the Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy category.
