Jimmy Graham: Frustration comes from being 0-2
You don’t know what you are talking about.
You don’t know what you are talking about.”Yeah, I’ve been reading the same thing”. “That’s a surprise to me”.
When the football world first learned that tight end Jimmy Graham would be suiting up for the Seattle Seahawks thanks to a blockbuster deal with the New Orleans Saints, there was one thought that crossed everyone’s mind-the defending NFC Champs were going to be very, very risky in 2015.
“NFL Network’s Mike Silver deduced and wrote after being in the visitors” locker room at Green Bay last Sunday that Graham is likely angry. The lack of production led to reports that Graham was upset after the game.
“I tell Russ every day, ‘It don’t matter”.
Seattle Seahawks tight end Jimmy Graham catches a 7-yard touchdown pass during the fourth quarter of an NFL football game against the St. Louis Rams Sunday, September 13, 2015, in St. Louis.
“I was in there for the time I needed to be and then I went to the shower”, Graham said in reference to his availability in the locker room Sunday.
“I’m disappointed”, said Carroll, “Because we really have had the intent [to use Graham], just like you would think, exactly like you guys think, like everybody thinks”. “Usually, I figure, to write stories you’ve got to have some type of source, which should be me – and it certainly wasn’t”.
But through the first two weeks of the season, Graham has totaled just seven receptions for 62 yards and a touchdown on only 10 targets. That number is 44 percent through two games with the Seahawks. “Sometimes just throw it, ‘” Graham said.
“I like to win and I hate to lose”.
“I don’t want to diminish that we do want to get Jimmy the ball, ” Bevell said. “So I’m going to keep doing what’s asked of me”. “I know my opportunities are going to come, and I know my moments are going to come, and I know I’ll be ready when they do come my way”. And, you know, even leading up to that question, we’ve talked about it: This team runs the ball. And if we are, then that means we’re in trouble. “So I’m looking forward to that part of it and just continuing to grow, and continuing to build on that”. The line has starters in three new positions. It has inconsistently communicated and sporadically provided quarterback Russell Wilson enough time to wait for Graham to run his longer routes down the field.
“That’s something that we have to kind of go on by game plan”, Bevell said. The league’s best rushing attack in eight seasons a year ago is ranked 11th now at an average of 121.5 yards per game. The list of players on the missing-in-action list is down to one.
Graham admitted that there’s been an adjustment period with the Seahawks and that his opportunities to make plays might be fewer than they were with the Saints, but he said his mindset remained the same. The Seahawks have only played two games, and Graham was productive in one of them.
“Obviously it is kind of constant growth (finding his role)”, he said. “The same can be said for a lot of other guys”. The damage has mostly come out wide, though, as they’ve allowed just four catches for 32 yards to tight ends. It’s about wins. So that’s all we’re concerned about. “We still want him to more catches, we want everybody to get catches.” said Wilson. He’ll start at strong safety against Chicago.
“I think he is”, Carroll said.
The Seahawks will need to drop someone from the 53-man roster to make room for Chancellor. RB Marshawn Lynch (calf) did not practice Wednesday or Friday and is expected to be a game-time decision against Chicago. He missed one drive in the third quarter last weekend at Green Bay, with Thomas Rawls replacing him. Carroll said Monday that was because Lynch was complaining of neck pain.
