Jimmy Graham refutes report he’s ‘pissed off’ about role with Seahawks
That report, though, was apparently news to Graham himself.
Seattle Seahawks tight end Jimmy Graham (88) warms up before an National Football League… A team doctor checked him out on the Seahawks’ sideline at Lambeau Field, then Lynch returned for the following drive and finished the game.
Seattle Seahawks tight end Jimmy Graham is tied for third on the Seahawks with 11 targets but leads the team on targets in the red zone. “I’m really not sure where it came from”. “Usually, I figure to write a story you have to have some type of source, which should be me, and it certainly wasn’t”. He missed one drive in the third quarter last weekend at Green Bay, with Thomas Rawls replacing him.
Bleacher Report’s Mike Freeman confirmed that Graham is indeed frustrated, adding that he does not like his role in Seattle.
Graham caught six passes for 51 yards and a touchdown in the opener at St. Louis, and Graham said he is aware that his involvement can change week to week, especially playing now in a more run-oriented offense. He reported six pounds under his listed playing weight of 232 pounds with what Carroll said was six percent body fat.
“You know, I like to win, and I hate to lose”. And I know I’ll be ready when they do come my way.
He did say he was indeed frustrated about one giant issue entering Sunday’s home opener against Chicago. “I don’t have any doubt about that”, the Super Bowl-winning coach said, as quoted by NFL.com.
He’s back. You know exactly who I’m talking about. “Sometimes a guy, maybe some guys, are there and sometimes I’m going to make it happen”.
Through the first two games, Graham has played more of a traditional tight end role after averaging 89 receptions for 1,099 yards and 12 touchdowns in each of the last four seasons in New Orleans’ pass-first offense. We’ve talked about it: This team runs the ball.
(On adjusting to a different style quarterback) “The first two games, even with the read option [Russell Wilson] kept the ball quite a bit. It sounds like some of the people are anxious about it but we’re working at it. It’s going to get worked out and we just want him to be a factor and contribute just like he wants to desperately”.
“I tell Russ every day, ‘It don’t matter”. “Sometimes, just throw it, because it just doesn’t matter”. “That’s just chemistry and something that we’ve got to get comfortable with”.
If and when Seattle’s line improves, and when Wilson keeps more on read options than his one time in the first six quarters of this season, it will force defenses out of ganging up on Lynch.
Graham admitted that there’s been an adjustment period with the Seahawks and that his opportunities to make plays might be fewer than they were with the Saints, but he said his mindset remained the same.
“Is there an emphasis to try to get Jimmy the ball?”
