New data on ‘Scream Queens’
Recently, Scream Queens king Ryan Murphy opened up to E! I enjoyed it a great deal. The amount of stars in the series premiere will blow your mind as legendary actress Jamie Lee Curtin returns to her horror roots, and brings along with her Emma Roberts, Lea Michele, Ariana Grande, Nick Jonas, Keke Palmer, and more!
Roberts is fantastic as Chanel, channeling her previous AHS Madison character, but without the depth. “They were playing with our heads”, said Breslin. Every scene they are in is magic.
Emma Roberts leads the sorority as Chanel Oberlin, KKT’s demanding, needy, petulant president. Film veteran Jamie Lee Curtis takes on the role of Dean Cathy Munsch, who demands that exclusive sorority must allow all students to pledge, not just the wealthy and elite. Ariana Grande is Chanel #2, Billie Lourd is #3, and Abigail Breslin is lowly Chanel #5 (there is no #4).
Some 20 years ago, sorority house Kappa Kappa Tau was the site of a young pregnant girls death, and, by the looks of it, the new girls residing in the stately house are following in their “sisters” footsteps, all too willing to cover up murders.
The Red Devil texts again saying, “I’m going to kill you now”. Afterward, she had time to start college (Stanford, studying intellectual property) and join Kappa Alpha Theta. Now, I know the sorority girls on this how are SUPPOSED to be shallow but so far I see no redeeming qualities for any of them, which makes it very hard for the show to be likeable. Hopefully, they, too, will be used in unexpected ways later in the season.
Just as creator Ryan Murphy promised, Scream Queens kicked off with a flashback from 1995. If you don’t understand at first what the mission of the program is and instead take it seriously, you may be confused and disappointed. And there are some key differences that set it apart. “And the thing that’s so brilliant about this show is it strips away, it flays the imagined behaviors of human beings, and it actually shows, I think, what people really are, which is inherently dark, inherently unhappy, and angry, frustrated human beings, who are trying so desperately to hold it together”.
The much talked about horror-comedy aired the two-hour premiere, “Pilot” and “Hell Week”, back-to-back on Tuesday night.
