Jimmy Kimmel really enjoyed dissing Matt Damon at the Oscars

Jimmy Kimmel made more than a few Trump jokes during the 2017 Oscars Sunday night in Los Angeles. “You’re like the sheriff of the show”, Kimmel explained.

Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway – the two stars of Bonnie and Clyde who have remained outside the public spotlight for years – were presenters of the night’s final award.

“Gary from Chicago” – whose full name is Gary Cole – became a social media sensation after he and other members of a Hollywood tour group were the targets of a prank by Academy Awards host Jimmy Kimmel. And Matt says, ‘I think I heard the stage manager say they got the victor wrong.’ …

“You figure, well, you know, the host will go on stage and clear this up”, Kimmel told his late-night audience. So if they’re around, I was trying to get them up here so I could marry them on this show. “It was the ideal end to the night, but then obviously once the whole envelope thing happened, it got scrapped”.

Nevertheless, the Oscars still earned a tidy sum from advertising revenue, earning close to $115 million, and was the longest telecast in over ten years, lasting a total of three hours and 49 minutes. But it appeared they had received the wrong card, and “Moonlight” had in fact taken the top prize. “And the way you people go through hosts, it’s probably my last time here”.

“I want to make no mistake about it”, Kimmel noted. Flippant dismissal of criticism also cropped up in his campaign, when Trump rejected Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton’s fitness for the presidency by stating “the only thing she’s got going is the woman’s card”. He did it out of respect for the people of his country and the other six nations who were disrespected by the immigrants travel ban law.

Kimmel paid tribute to his expectant wife, Molly McNearney, and to all the writers on his team, saying that he felt a responsibility to deliver their material well because “you know what jokes you wrote, and your family knows what jokes you wrote”. I assume there will be not a lot of singing and dancing by Jimmy Kimmel but he could surprise us all.
