Jimmy Kimmel’s EpiPen joke calls out high drug prices at Emmys
At last night’s Emmy Awards show, not everyone came out on top like the Game of Thrones cast, but at least the entire audience got free peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
Show host Jimmy Kimmel joked that his mother prepared a whopping 7,000 sandwiches for the star studded crowd.
“Let’s bring in the kids from Stranger Things to hand these peanut butter and jelly sandwiches out”, he said, introducing Millie Bobby Brown, Caleb McLaughlin, and Gaten Matarazzo in their costumes from the hit Netflix show. “Is anyone hungry right now?”
Kimmel handed some out, too, at one point asking the actors to raise their hands if they had a gluten allergy. “Also, if you’re allergic to peanuts, well I guess this is goodbye because we can only afford one EpiPen”.
“I just wanted America to see which of their favorite celebrities are the most annoying”, he quipped.
Later, Kimmel passed out juice boxes to go along with the sandwiches, giving a few to “Juice” fan David Schwimmer.
Kimmel asked Cuba Gooding Jr.to read the note in his bag. “Don’t get drunk. Xoxoxo Joan (Jimmy’s mom)”.
Ouch. That’s the kind of love she gives Kimmel’s sweet mom for trying to make everyone happy?
