JJ Abrams broke his back for ‘real-life superhero’ Harrison Ford
Abrams was a guest on the The Daily Show Thursday night, as Entertainment Weekly reports, and it was there that he made the admission, while being interview by host Jon Stewart. Unfortunately he does not have actual super powers, and he literally broke his back trying to lift the door. “Hes a Miracle Man, and Im like, Excuse me, Mr. Darth Vader, could you be more evil?'” As much as it sounds like some type of Chuck Norris-esque, meme-centric hyperbole, the nearly comical constitution of Harrison Ford has been proven to be genuine after having not only come back quickly from a ghastly ankle injury, but later experiencing a crash landing of the single-engine plane he was piloting in March.
Ford broke his leg last year on the Star Wars set, as the Inquisitr previously reported, when the door of the Millennium Falcon inadvertently crushed his limb.
Abrams said of wearing the brace: “I felt a little bit like I was on Baywatch“. Abrams, who actually broke his back in the same accident that injured Ford.
Comparing himself to Ford, Abrams said that their differences were best exemplified by the incident that sidelined Ford for eight weeks during the filming of “Force Awakens“.
“I’m trying to lift him up, because that’s the kind of guy I am”, he said.
The doctor informed Abrams that he had broken his L4 in his spine.
“I’m like, ‘Uh, that’s weird, ‘” he said. “I felt like the most nebbishy Jewish director ever”.
But Abrams wasn’t about to let a back injury get in his way.
If in the unlikely event The Force Awakens doesn’t meet the world’s highest expectations, let’s be gentle on Abrams.
