JK Rowling confirms end of ‘Harry Potter’: ‘Harry is done now’
While the play and book may be getting called the eighth installment in the Harry Potter series, this really is the final time that the character will be the focus of a book moving forward.
If the boy wizard’s creator has her way, that will only be the beginning.
When asked if she hoped the show would head to Broadway, the author said, “I’d love it to go wider than that”.
“We had so many heads coming in dressed up in their favorite Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff, and it was so much fun”, said Rock.
“Hopefully many countries, at some point, will get to see it”. “But it’s a big piece of theater, it’s a big endeavor”. But it’s a big piece of theatre, a big endeavour and you can’t just turn it around overnight. “They didn’t want to spoil it for each other”.
“It was fantastic, it was magical, there were so many people in costume of all ages”.
It’s also thought that Warner Bros could be eyeing the opportunity to make the “Cursed Child” play into a movie.
The self-confessed superfan had read all the Harry Potter books by the age of eight and is able to recite all the spells used in the stories. “So, I’m thrilled to see it realized so beautifully but, no, Harry is done now”.
Today fans will raise their wands in sorrow and respect to the end of a magical era – but I believe we are ushering in another more unknown epoch. “So, I never wanted to write another novel, but this will give the fans something special”.
Based on a story by Rowling, playwright Jack Thorne and director John Tiffany, “Cursed Child” picks up Potter’s story after book and film lovers last saw him in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” in 2011.
“The store didn’t just release the book, but had all sorts of games available as well: things like a snitch scavenger hunt, quidditch pong, magic wand making, and photo booths with Harry Potter-themed props”. Tickets to the play are sold out through May 2017, but will have new tickets to be sold starting August 4 for performances through to December 10, 2017.
