JK Rowling defends decision to have Harry Potter name son after Snape
“I’m genuinely curious as he was nothing but abusive towards everyone”.
She also addressed her decision to have Harry name one of his children after Snape, the man who tortured him for years while at the same time helping to protect him.
“Alan Rickman played Severus Snape in the “Harry Potter” movie franchise”.
The acclaimed author explained that Harry paid tribute to Snape because of “forgiveness and gratitude”. I happen to be a very loyal Hufflepuff with an “I Love Snape” bumper sticker on the back of my auto. He was introduced as a bully among the Hogwarts staff, tormenting Harry and his friends.
Well you’re in luck because author J.K. Rowling is revealing why he did it!
Some ardent fans were unhappy with the response, with one replying: “Kind of odd you’d say “in forgiveness”, I mean Snape held no malice against Harry (which Harry came to knew, eventually)”. My timeline just exploded with love & fury yet again.
With some fans still unhappy with the outcome, she finished: “Snape didn’t die for “ideals”.
“Snape is all grey. You can’t make him a devil: he died to save the wizarding world”, she wrote. “Snape’s silence ensured Harry’s victory”.
Harry’s son, Albus Severus, is the focus of the new theatre sequel Harry Potter And The Cursed Child, which opens officially next July.
However, her message sent Potter-lovers into meltdown as they squabbled over the professor’s role in the much-loved books and subsequent films.
