Joe Manganiello Playing Villain Deathstroke in Ben Affleck’s ‘Batman’ Movie!
Geoff Johns, DC Entertainment’s president and chief creative officer, revealed in an interview with the Wall Street Journal that Joe Manganiello will suit up as Deathstroke, and will feature prominently in the standalone Batman flick, which Johns is co-writing with Affleck.
Rumors that Deathstroke would be the villain for the solo Batman movie surfaced once Affleck tweeted a video of the villain on the set in his full outfit/armor.
Batman has found his Deathstroke!
It’s not clear if that means that Manganiello will also cameo as Deathstroke in “Justice League”, and Johns declined to comment on the matter to WSJ.
Because DC Comics is not into cross-pollination between its television and film products, some popular characters have been scrubbed from TV plot lines so that they can appear on the silver screen.
Deathstroke (Slade Joseph Wilson) was created by Marv Wolfman and George Perez. Other villains are rumored to be in the film as well, including Jared Leto’s Joker. Money’s all the motivation a hired gun like Deathstroke would require, and all the exposition I’d need to see these two go toe-to-toe in a big-screen movie.
