Joe Rogan Says Ronda Rousey vs. Holly Holm Title Fight Isn’t ‘Smart’
According to Martin, there’s the possibility Nunes could meet Tate on the undercard of UFC 195, the same event that will see Rousey and Holm do battle.
She’s coming up against one of the best strikers in the division in former boxer Holly Holm, so she’s going to need to be solid as a rock.
During her Ask Me Anything session on Reddit, Rowdy Ronda Rousey said she could be Floyd Mayweather – or pretty much anyone on the planet – in a fight with no rules.
So, when it comes down to Rousey’s next challenge, Rogan, like many, would enjoy seeing Rousey matched up against an opponent with a more, well rounded, skillset.
“I don’t agree with that fight”, Rogan said, “That Holly Holm fight”.
He said off the top of his head at least four fighters are more deserving of a shot at the title.
The 27-year-old is yet to be offered a fight with Tate in the wake of her win over Sara McMann, but that isn’t stopping her from already looking ahead.
But Dana White and Co. could have done better than Holly Holm. “I just think, honestly, the real problem is that there’s a lack of talent”. “Her big issue is the grappling”.
Holm also had an incredible boxing career, complete with a 33-2-3 record, but it wasn’t without its hiccups, especially a shockingly violent and one-sided knockout loss to Anne Sophie Mathis in December 2011. Maybe Holly, because her standup is so much more refined, she’s been doing it for so much longer, maybe she can keep Ronda away from her. I’m serious.
To put into context just how dominant Rousey has been, her last three fights have ended in a combined 64 seconds.
When the “Good Morning America” hosts teased Rousey, questioning why anyone would watch that fight when she ends them so quickly, she had this to say: “Nobody’s easy until after you beat them”.
“She’s not the average chick that I would fight”, Rousey (12-0) said of Holm in making her announcement.
“I think you have to be ready at any moment”. Despite losing to Rousey on two prior occasions, Tate was promised by the UFC that she would be next in line for a title shot. Miesha is a known opponent and I’m going to win this fight.
The 28-year-old announced the decision to fight Holm on American breakfast television.
