Joel Embiid’s injured foot excluded from 76ers’ insurance policy
Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid will undergo his season-ending surgery Tuesday, reports Yahoo’s Marc J. Spears. Embiid first underwent surgery a week before the team drafted him.
The Sixers took Embiid with the No. 3 pick in 2014 and he sat out last season with a foot fracture. Which was expected.
Embiid’s surgery will be similar to the one Oklahoma City’s Kevin Durant had, per Spears.
According to President and GM Sam Hinkie, Embiid had been “pain free” and was “coming to terms with the decision” to get the surgery.
It was never in doubt that Embiid would receive surgery on his foot, so any delays were likely logistical and a non-factor for fantasy purposes. He had high expectations until he missed what was supposed to be his entire rookie season due to injury. If anything, I would think that would bother me as a fan more than the fact that the team is still telling me to be patient as they continue to tank year after year.
