Joey Feek has entered hospice care
Rory Feek has been providing updates through his This Life I Live blog, and on Monday morning, he revealed hospice was beginning.
Joey’s ongoing health struggle- she was initially diagnosed a year ago with aggressive cervical cancer just four months after giving birth to Indiana – has been tearing at the hearts of fans since Rory began documenting it online. Joey Feek has been in the hospital since Friday and will be taken home, where hospice workers will care for her, on Monday (Nov. 9). “Then she called the girls up and gently slid a ring on their fingers too… a symbol of her commitment to them, like her commitment to me”.
“We need to concentrate now on helping her be comfortable”, he continued. “We all prayed. God answered”, said her husband, Rory – and partner in the singing duo Joey + Rory. Rory went to their blog, This Life I Live, this morning to share an update about how Joey is doing and how they had to spend the last few days in the hospital.
“Joey is at peace with where she is and where she’s going”, Feek wrote.
The report was made even more heartbreaking by the photos Rory posted of Joey cuddling with the couple’s toddler daughter, Indiana. Although the reality of Joey’s condition seems bleak, Rory Feek says he has come to terms with their future. “Both of their eyes light up the moment they see each other”, Rory explains. “Then she told them of the day when they’ll be together again in Heaven”. When Indiana visited over the weekend, Joey read and sang “In The Garden”, an inspirational song the couple is known for performing. “So am I. An answer to prayer on the blog”.
The singer will be cared for at home, and family have set up a play area by her bedside so she can continue to spend time with little Indy.
The couple have three children, and chronicled last week what it was like for Joey, 40, to say goodbye to her two stepdaughters, Heidi and Hopie. Hundreds of people showed up to send their prayers to the country singer and her loved ones.
