John Dingell admitted to hospital for heart procedure
During his September residence at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Dingell sent a series of lighthearted tweets about news, sports, and politics, all while being nursed back to health.
Dingell, 89, served in congress for a record 59 years and is being succeeded by his wife, Debbie Dingell, D-Dearborn. His wife Debbie Dingell won the 2014 election to replace him, becoming the first non-widowed woman to immediately take over for a spouse’s seat in Congress.
