John Scott named MVP of NHL All-Star Tournament
In the Championship Game, The Pacific Division All-Stars came away with a 1-0 victory on the heels of a shutout from Los Angeles Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick and Anaheim Ducks goaltender John Gibson in the tournament finale on Sunday.
Scott scored on a tip-in just 47 seconds into the second mini-game Sunday during a tournament featuring the league’s four divisions.
No matter what happens throughout the rest of his career, John Scott will forever be known as an NHL All-Star Game MVP.
As MVP, Scott also gets a new Honda minivan, something he said he asked his temporary teammates to donate to him if they won. He and his 10 teammates also got to split up the $1 million prize money awarded to the winning team.
Now Scott’s helmet is headed to the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto and his name was trending on Twitter after a night when he wasn’t listed among the three MVP candidates for a social media vote late in the final game.
