John Stones wants Manchester City move by next week
He was the subject of interest from Chelsea last summer, but it looks like John Stones will finally leave Everton in the coming weeks.
The fee is believed to be in excess of £50millon which would make the 22-year-old the most expensive centre-back in world football, eclipsing the £50m which Paris Saint-Germain paid Chelsea for David Luiz in 2014. However, the England International is determined to force his way out of Goodison Park this summer.
Despite a disappointing season from Everton’s perspective during their last campaign, where Stones was criticised for some of his performances as the Toffees finished in 11th place which then ultimately led to the sacking of Roberto Martinez.
Despite the lofty price tag for Stones not many are convinced with his abilities as a reliable Premier League defender.
Stones, who is due to report for preseason training on Monday after his involvement at Euro 2016 with England, would command a fee in the region of £50 million.
Stones may possess the qualities Pep wants from his defenders but spending £53m is nothing short of a gamble on him especially when he is not at his confident best.
With their city rivals United already having splashed out on several summer deals, Stones’ arrival at City would see him join former Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan and Celta Vigo striker Nolito as new arrivals at the Etihad.
The Everton defender is keen to start pre-season under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.
Elsewhere, City are also in talks to sign Barcelona goalkeeper Claudio Bravo, who has been priced at £20m, according to reports from Marca.
