John Wick First-Person VR Shooter is Coming in 2016
There are no details yet on when the John Wick VR game would be hitting the market, but it seems likely that the date would be close to the release of the next film. But that will only serve as an appetizer to the main course, which we look forward to trying before its launch on VR headsets next spring.
The partnership will also involve WEVR who are going to create a fully immersive VR experience that will introduce the game, while studio Grab will be spearheading the development.
The film’s producer Basil Iwanyk and his production team will be collaborating WEVR and Grab on the game.
John Wick, the action flick where Keanu Reeves goes on a rampage after the murder of his dog, is being adapted into a VR shooter and published by Payday 2 studio, Starbreeze. However the latest announcement is for Keanu Reeves and his rather popular movie John Wick which will be getting its own virtual reality game early next year.
“Lionsgate is a leader in producing and delivering the kind of provocative, original and engaging storytelling that you need to launch an exhilarating and marketable game”, said Starbreeze CEO Bo Andersson Klint in a statement.
The standalone, first-person shooter game is based on the world and characters of the John Wick films, centering around the Continental Hotel.
With a sequel to the 2014 action thriller “John Wick” already in development, Lionsgate is looking to expand the franchise beyond theaters, and into virtual reality.
The teaser for the game will come out this year, but the full game will come out as a commercial product next year on multiple VR platforms, Levin said.
