Johnny Depp Joins Edgar Wright’s FORTUNATELY, THE MILK
According to The Hollywood Reporter, 20th Century Fox is in early talks to acquire Fortunately, The Milk, which will be a film based on the children’s book of the same name written by Newbery Medalist and Hugo Award-winner Neil Gaiman (Sandman).
Oscar winning songwriter and one half of Flight of the Conchords Bret McKenzie has penned the script.
The combination of Neil Gaiman, Edgar Wright and Johnny Depp is an exciting one: it’ll certainly be a whimsical and entertaining affair.
As THR reports, Johnny Depp is set to star and produce the picture with Edgar Wright on board to direct. If you had this foursome in your Hollywood productions fantasy league, then congratulations because you just won the season trophy.
Depp was most recently seen in Black Mass, about the notorious Boston gangster “Whitey” Bulger. While waiting for details about the adaptation to be finalized, he has “Baby Driver” on pre-production, which stars Jon Hamm, Ansel Elgort and Lily James. He’s got Disney’s Alice Through the Looking Glass and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales both in post. Chris Riddell provided the illustrations for the book. Depp would headline Fortunately, the Milk, presumably as the book’s father character.
