Johnny Depp Keeps His Enemies Close in Latest ‘Black Mass’ Trailer
Now, on the heels of the news that the film, directed by Scott Cooper (Out of the Furnace), will debut at the Venice Film Festival, comes another trailer that nearly feels like a short film in and of itself.
Here’s the new trailer from Warner Bros.
Depp steals the show as gangster Whitey Bulger and looks unrecognisable donning a half bald avatar. There are a few close-up shots in this particular trailer where you can really see the make-up caked on his face.
In 1970s South Boston, Federal Bureau of Investigation Agent John Connolly (Edgerton) persuades Irish mobster James “Whitey” Bulger (Depp) to collaborate with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and eliminate a common enemy: the Italian mob.
The story, filled with unbelievable, gut-wrenching twists and a mountain of murder and deceit, should prove to moviegoers everywhere starting September 18 that truth is stranger than fiction.
With an ensemble that also includes Benedict Cumberbatch, Juno Temple, Kevin Bacon, Adam Scott, Corey Stoll, Peter Sarsgaard and Julianne Nicholson, Black Mass will be out in the UK on November 13.
“Black Mass” tells the true story of the unholy alliance between the FBI and Whitey Bulger, one of the most notorious gangsters in U.S. history.
