Johnny Manziel likely to start against the 49ers

Cincinnati’s top-rated defense had little trouble shutting down the Browns, who lost two wide receivers to injuries during the game and don’t have the kind of playmakers who have transformed the Bengals from doormats into one of the NFL’s best teams.

Manziel is 1-2 as a starter this season and 1-4 since being taken with the 22nd pick of the 2014 draft. After we talked, I was like ‘That’s the throw we make in OTAs, and it gets picked off and me and you go over to the sideline and talk about it and it never happens again’. I think we all have ideas on how to get it done, and we need to be collaborative and we need to make sure that we’re picking the best ideas and pushing those agendas moving forward.

Brian Hoyer struggled and instead of making the move to Manziel the Browns stuck with the veteran journeyman who they knew would not return for the 2015 season as their quarterback. He made more headlines with his antics outside of football last season and spent 10 weeks during the winter in a Pennsylvania rehab facility specializing in treatment for alcohol and substance abuse.
