Johnny Manziel won’t “make a huge deal” out of time with starters

Manziel says he’s committed to his profession, and that “football is my life”. Every day, Pettine was asked about the starting quarterback position, who was winning the competition, how Manziel was doing.

Televised on NFL Network, the Orange and Brown scrimmage will be conducted similarly to how it was a year ago at InfoCision Stadium in Akron.

Another time he changed the play at the line of scrimmage, stepped up in the pocket and threw with authority on a completion to Rodney Smith over the middle.

Manziel, fresh off a particularly eventful offseason, knows his opportunity to get some first-team reps is nothing to read into. And then from there on, Coach Pett, everybody else, they make that call.

“I think it’s important – everybody forgets he’s barely 22 years old”. Ive kind of gone through the ringer in a year and got to see everything.

“Now, kind of seeing what they were talking about, that it will slow down, it will get better, and I think it’s just a process of not being overwhelmed with ‘Okay, what is the snap count, what is this.’ That’s what a lot of the rookie year is about”. Thats what a lot of the rookie year is about. It’s a lot of fun with the guys we have in this locker room. Pettine said he would know more today.
