Jon Stewart to appear on Stephen Colbert’s live ‘Late Show’ Monday
Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert will be back together again.
Almost a year after Stewart abandoned us all in our deepest time of need (i.e.an election year) and signed off for the last time on The Daily Show, he returns to late night on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert Monday evening to help kick off their live two-week national convention coverage. Now, we’ll get to hear them alongside his former co-worker Colbert.
There’s personal gain in Stewart appearing on the “Late Show,” since he’s one of its executive producers. No details have been confirmed yet, however.
As to the extent to which Stewart will be used on the show? He was still doing his show when Trump first made a decision to run for the nomination.
Stewart is expected to be involved with the show’s Monday broadcast in some fashion, according to people familiar with the situation, though his screen time will not be significant.
The Late Show will have what’s being billed as an “on-site presence” at both conventions, but the broadcasts will based in Colbert’s studio in NY.
Donald Trump looks set to be announced as the Republican nominee at the convention next week but could be a last minute challenger.
CBS declined to comment on Stewart’s appearance, which was first reported by Vulture.
Colbert was a regular on “The Daily Show” from 1995 to 2005 before leaving to host his own Stewart produced series, “The Colbert Report”.
