Jonah Lomu’s great pub prank
The Kiwi great, whose 15 tries in the competition propelled him to worldwide stardom during an illustrious career, had a surprise or two in store at the venue.
Former All Blacks try-scoring machine Jonah Lomu has surprised a number of unsuspecting members of public in a Dublin pub with an intricate quiz machine prank.
The all-time leading tryscorer in Rugby World Cup history was taking part in Heineken’s ‘It’s Your Call’ campaign which will allow rugby fans the chance to be present for the pre-match coin toss at this Autumn’s World Cup. Here, they are given a coin with a code on it.
Guests at Harry Byrnes were shown what they believed to be a regular vending machine which offered some brilliant customised gifts.
It wasn’t until Irish legend Shane Horgan opened the machine and let Lomu out that the jig was up.
“This Heineken video was a lot of fun to shoot!”
Mark Crosbie, who was at bar, added: “Everything was perfectly normal until people started receiving personalised merchandise from Jonah Lomu”.
It isn’t until when Irish great Shane Horgan arrived to replace Lomu from his duties, did the people in the pub realise that the All Blacks was in the machine the entire time.
The prank was designed to kick off Heineken’s “It’s Your Call” Rugby World Cup 2015 campaign, and we have to say, it’s definitely a memorable one!
The big man clearly has a big sense of humour too.
