Duke reached the 100-point mark with more than 5 1/2 minutes to play. He rested all but three minutes of the second half, a precaution to project the groin injury that sidelined him for a week in the preseason.

A role player on the team that captured the program’s fifth national title last spring, Jones has become a key scoring threat on a new-look Duke team that lost three freshmen to the first round of the NBA draft and needs its perimeter to provide the scoring punch.

Three players – Jones, Allen and Ingram – cracked double figures by halftime.

Hunter Ware scored a career-high 24 points to lead Bryant (0-1). “And that’s to compete for the league, and we obviously can’t control that at this point, but we can control going out and doing our best this week with Duke and whatever happens with the rest of the teams happens”.

Peterman threw for 180 yards on 13 of 23, connecting with Zach Challingsworth for 11 yards, J.P. Holtz for 3 yards, and Dontez Ford for 5 yard touchdowns. The Cavaliers will try to finish their season strong with a win over Duke and Virginia Tech. “Missing shots is okay as long as you’re taking good shots”.

The Blue Devils pushed their winning streak at Cameron Indoor Stadium against nonconference opponents to 118.

Bryant has dropped eight of nine all-time meetings with current members of the ACC, with its only victory coming in a 56-54 win at Boston College during the 2012-13 season. They did play Pittsburgh tough in a 72-67 loss on February 2.

The only points Duke managed during that stretch were fluky – Martin’s 51-yarder hit the crossbar and bounced straight up before trickling through the uprights.
