Jones: Arsenal draw feels like 6-0 loss
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho (front) and Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger watch on during their sides’ Premier League match on Saturday.
Instead, Mourinho may look to add a wily veteran to help solidify his defence, and Fonte fits the bill perfectly having been the calming influence in Southampton’s back line whilst leading the club as their captain for more than two years.

‘The Premier League is so quick and sharp these days. “We are very, very, very happy with our work and better results will arrive, for sure”.
Mourinho posted a picture on Instagram of him being embraced by Maradona at a previous event, and wrote: “after a great perfomance but a bad result i had a phone call from king diego.gracias amigo.with you, with my family, with other friends, with my players and with utd wonderful supporters.monday i will be ready again!”
But on Saturday the Saints managed to hold Liverpool, the Premier League’s top scorers, to a goalless draw at St Mary’s.
“I think getting back to winning games again – that is very important”, he said. Wenger hasn’t won the league with Arsenal since 2004.
True, Wenger was not helped by some poor performances, most notably from a wasteful Ramsey, who if anything at least ensured he won’t be starting on the left again after some erratic passing which repeatedly gave United possession in unsafe areas.
Mourinho admits that he would not have had the same disappointment had Arsenal played well on Saturday, but insists that his side were the better team.
Out-of-favour Toure’s only previous appearance since Guardiola’s appointment as City manager came in a Champions League qualifier against Steaua Bucharest in August.
Mourinho has been lucky enough – or, more accurately, good enough – in the past to know that better teams tend to be more fortunate than inferior ones.
“When I was sacked at Chelsea, I was not in trouble”.
“I don” t explain it”, said Mourinho of the result. They couldn’t be Arsenal, the way they normally want to play football. And with pundits and critics slamming the 31-year-old for the same, it looked a lot like Mourinho was following suit by leaving him out of the starting eleven against Arsenal – arguably one of their biggest fixtures of the season.
That might be the reason why Wenger has had issues with Mourinho.
Arsenal were well below-par at Old Trafford but Olivier Giroud rescued a point. The team played very well.
Wenger’s only success over Mourinho came in the 2015 Community Shield.
“It feels like we’ve been slapped 6-0”, said Jones. We created chances and probably should have scored more.
‘Training and games are two different things.
