Jones: Fumbles won’t hurt Ezekiel Elliott’s carries
Jean-Jacques Taylor joined ESPNDallas.com in August 2011. He also only had two lost fumbles last season and one the year before, according to Fox Sports.
Ezekiel Elliott won’t be punished for his Sunday gaffes.
Elliott’s fumbles came after he’d gained 83 yards on 21 carries.
“He fundamentally carries the ball really sound”, Jones said.
“I’ve never been benched – so that’s new to me”, Elliott said.
“You gotta acknowledge what happened, and you gotta make sure you focus on your weaknesses from the week before”. “But you’ve just got to respond by going to work the next day. That’s just how you get better as a player”. Through two games, he’s managed just 134 yards on 41 carries (3.27 YPC) but has saved his fantasy days with three total touchdowns. And running behind an offensive line considered by many to be the best in the National Football League, those expectations are high outside of the organization.
Social media is in attack mode. The expectations are going to be high.
“It’s exciting to get on the big stage”, Elliott said.
“No one can expect more out of me than myself. The criticism is what I expect, honestly”. “I’m trying to get better”.
After struggling to find much running room in a Week 1 loss to the New York Giants, Elliott averaged four yards per carry against the Giants. They want him to be slow to the hole – giving it time to open – then accelerate through it. Alfred Morris could see a little more action moving forward, but Elliott remains the workhorse in Dallas.
The process can’t be rushed.
