Jones no-shows media availability after hospitalization

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) – After a year of “Deflategate”, the New England Patriots aren’t about to let Chandler Jones’ still-unexplained trip to the hospital bother them. However, on Wednesday, the Boston Globe reported that doctors were able to confirm that Jones had “a bad reaction” to a synthetic marijuana.

The account, though not a formal police report, sheds more light on Jones’s hospitalization, reportedly for a bad reaction to smoking synthetic weed.

The New England Patriots would have loved to spend the week with nothing else to worry about except Saturday’s playoff game against the Kansas City Chiefs. The report said the man ran through the lot where cruisers were parked and then made a direct line to the back side of the station.

Belichick was testy with reporters when asked about Jones’ status for the game.

He refused to speak on Jones further and wouldn’t even acknowledge whether or not he will play this weekend.

Belichick opened his Thursday media availability by saying his primary concern was Jones’ health.

The increasingly unusual details of Chandler Jones’s medical emergency continue to emerge. “Right now, my main focus is becoming the best player I can be and helping the team and focusing on Kansas City”, he said. The Patriots said he was at the team facility Monday – the day after his incident – lifting weights at 6:30 a.m.

Meanwhile, another officer who was sent to Jones’s house when the defensive end remembered he’d forgotten his keys reported a “smell of burnt marijuana”.

Ptl. Foscaldo said Jones repeatedly told officers he had “been told” to come to the police station, though a length section after that is redacted. “You can send it over to Kansas City and look at it. Might be easier for all of us”, Belichick said.

Jones led the Patriots during the regular season in sacks with 12½, had 44 tackles and four forced fumbles and was named to the Pro Bowl for the first time. “We issued a statement on that, and I really don’t have anything to add to it”, Belichick said.
