Jonny Evans Talk Discussed by Tony Pulis, Latest Rumours
West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Pulis insists stories linking Jonny Evans with Arsenal have no basis in the truth.
Pulis also expressed his desire to keep forward Saido Berahino at The Hawthorns, with Stoke still keen on signing the former England Under-21 global. “He is forming a good partnership with Salomon Rondon”. If they want to keep him at Leicester so be it.
“Tony Pulis and Nick Hammond have told the board we are two or three players short”.
“Everton had players like [Romelu] Lukaku to bring on and I think if you look at who they’ve brought in they’re going to be wanting to be a top-six side this year”.
Speaking as his team prepare to face Manchester City in Saturday’s early kick-off, Hughes conceded West Brom’s takeover by Chinese company Yunyi Guokai might also have held up any resolution to the Berahino situation.
However, the former Stoke boss appears to have accepted that this pursuit will see him end up empty-handed, which will undoubtedly be extremely frustrating given that they have made a big effort to get a move done and are now left with little time to switch their attention to alternative targets.
Pulis, talking transfers, says he is looking to strengthen not just the full-back positions but all areas and adds he is more confident of getting deals done next week. “I’m a little more confident things might drop next week than what I was a week ago”.
“I don’t like to pre-empt anything”.
