Jordan Howard breaks the Chicago Bears all-time rookie rushing record
Topics included the weird protest at U.S. Bank Stadium, Sam Bradford’s completion percentage record, which free agents the Vikings should keep, and much more!
It’s been a rough season for the Chicago Bears, who entered Week 17 3-12 and are just trying to get the year over with.
The final week of the National Football League season is here for the Minnesota Vikings.
Kyle Rudolph caught 11 passes for 117 yards and a score for the Vikings (8-8), who started 5-0 before stumbling out of their bye week and never recovering. But the yards haven’t translated into points, with Chicago 28th in scoring. There’s no way I’d let him go if I was running the team. It would be hard for Chicago to downgrade at quarterback after running a combo of Jay Cutler, Brian Hoyer, and Matt Barkley out there this season.
“I would trade that for wins any day, but the fact that we were able to go out there and accomplish that as a group, everyone contributes to that, it’s pretty cool”, said Bradford. Whether Shurmur is in charge or someone else, the Vikings’ offensive coordinator will have plenty of big decisions to make next season.
Howard’s performance wasn’t skewed by a series of big runs or big games or garbage-time yards. By comparison, Barkley threw five interceptions on 40 throws last Saturday against the Redskins. Matt Barkley in particular has been rough, throwing nine interceptions in his last three games.
Drew Brees set the previous record with a 71.2 percent mark for the New Orleans Saints in 2011. After career highs of 12 catches, 202 yards and two TDs in the loss to Green Bay, Thielen has 68 catches for 960 yards and five touchdowns. Jerick McKinnon led the rushing attack with 89 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries. If the Bears move on from Jeffery, they’ll be left with Kevin White, Eddie Royal, Cameron Meredith and Daniel Braverman as the only wide receivers on the roster. Passing, however, was another story for the Bears.
The Bears are tied for eighth in yards per carry but rank 19th in rushing. It was a sour season for a team that began the year with a rush of positivity after the opening of a new stadium, and the Vikings will have some hard questions to answer as they try to get back on track in 2017.
