Jordan is up for another Creed movie
Creed, a Rocky spin-off, has received a lot of buzz and continues to be a knockout at the box office.
It would be borderline sacrilege for a Rocky sequel/spinoff not to come equipped with rumblings about another chapter and now we’ve got confirmation from Michael B. Jordan that he’d be on-board for another Creed film.
In an interview with the Associated Press posted Saturday, Jordan said he would be game to returning to play Apollo Creed’s son, Adonis. Director Ryan Coogler says he’s also up for another Creed outing, although Warner Bros. and New Line have yet to announce any potential sequel plans. He said that especially with the way the movie comes to a conclusion, which he found to be very cool, it would be interesting to see what was next for Creed.
“Creed” ended up bringing in a solid profit after opening on Wednesday ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday, scoring $42.6 million. The script he penned with Aaron Covington nails every aspect of what makes Rocky great and gives us a new underdog to root for in Michael B. Jordan’s Adonis character. “I think with success and time and circumstances, it would be exciting to come back and work with Sly and [costar] Tessa [Thompson] again”.
It’s as if Coogler, who made his startling feature debut with the powerful Fruitvale Station, was too afraid of messing with a sure thing, and the result is a movie that might as well have been written by Stallone himself.
This was due to the fact that the five best-performing theaters throughout the country such as AMC Neshaminy, AMV Cherry Hill, Regal Riverview Plaza, among others were all based within Philadelphia, home of “Rocky” loyalists.
