Jordan Spieth dominates in Hawaii to win seventh PGA Tour title
The 2015 PGA Player of the Year and PGA Tour Player of the Year told Golf Channel: “I guess we made a statement that the calendar changed but we’re still there. It certainly didn’t”, Spieth said. It could nearly be felt in the air as Tiger Woods’ playing partner psyched himself out before Woods even hit his first shot. So hopefully we can continue to do that.
It took the American almost three years to get back to her best, following the crash at the 2013 world championships that badly damaged her right knee.
1 – This was a seemingly unstoppable Jordan Spieth’s seventh PGA Tour victory in just his 77th start.
The Nets said assistant Tony Brown will serve as the interim head coach, and the GM position will remain open until a replacement is hired.
Another is of a swaggering Lanny Wadkins in a deep blue cashmere sweater, using his quick but uncannily grooved action to whistling approaches at every pin at Riviera-“a concerto for woods and 2-irons”, wrote Jim Murray-to win the 1985 Los Angeles Open by seven.
Even though Spieth is being compared to iconic golfer Tiger Woods, the young athlete said he’s “nowhere near” that level. The job of catching Spieth appeared all but impossible at the start of the day, and Reed was unable to muster the miracle round that would have seen him challenge the world number one. They share the scoring record in the Masters. The next time he saw a leaderboard, Spieth was five shots in front and the gap only got bigger from there.
The 22-year-old Texan fired a closing round of six-under today, capping an incredible week of precision golf to win by eight strokes. Spieth and Woods share the distinction of winning seven times before the age of 23, though Woods had notched 18 in his first 77 starts. That’s why Spieth won’t be party to such talk. I think it’s awfully early.
“I’m very excited with where I am at as a start to my career and what Tiger has done I can’t imagine ever being done again”. But it’s nice to be in that company…. “Any time you can get into the company of him and other great players it’s a goal I’ve had since I was a little kid”.
The European Tour may have cause for delight at Spieth’s Hawaii success. Along with taking care of the holes where birdies are likely, he picked up a bonus with a 50-foot birdie putt up the slope and with the grain on the 12th hole.
Stone bogeyed the fifth, sixth and seventh before he then caught a break on the par five eighth and made birdie. When he does get in trouble, he gets out of it and he makes those 15 foot clutch putts to kind of keep the round going. It’s impressive to watch, it really is.
He said that he understands that comparisons are going to be there, but he just finds it hard to believe that it can be matched. He eventually went on reach 30-under-par and to beat Patrick Reed by fully eight strokes and Rory McIlroy and Jason Day et al are going to have to produce stratospheric golf in 2016 if they’re going to nudge Jordan off his lofty perch.
