“I played 18 holes the last couple of days, once on Pebble and once on Cypress, so if you’re not refreshed after doing that, I don’t know what’s going to refresh you”.

And he looks at me and I’m like, this doesn’t happen with normal people.

“Rickie, Rory and Jordan don’t have kids”, he said. “The ball was actually flying further than it normally does that time of year”. He recalled Brandt Snedeker telling him that “I owe you one” because of the loss.

The company will be giving away the dolls to the first 8,000 fans at the tournament on Saturday.

Love said he is paying so much more attention to the points, even eight months before the matches at Hazeltine, that he caught a mistake in the standings recently before they were published. But he waxed a little poetic with what it meant to him. “I think everyone does it on the golf course”.

He said the one shot he remembers is when Tiger Woods holed out at the 16 hole in 2005.

‘We had it (the same pairing) a year ago, so we kind of already know each other’s games and we are rooting for each other. “I’m like, ‘You’re 98 yards out in the middle of the fairway.’ Without missing a beat, he just steps up, hits the shot in the air. And I thought that was really cool”. As you’d expect, his track record at the AT&T Pro-Am is prestine, posting a T22 in his 2013 debut before figuring out the courses and returning with T4 and T7 finishes the next two editions.

Spieth tied for fifth at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship and finished second at the Singapore Open in his last two starts, and is looking forward to this week when his amateur partner will again be Owen.
