José Mourinho humbled by backing of Chelsea supporters
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho says that midfielder Cesc Fabregas is “totally committed” to the club, despite criticism over his performances.
Chelsea have lost eight times in the Barclays Premier League this season and are just two points off the drop zone after losing 1-0 to Bournemouth last Saturday at Stamford Bridge.
“The fans are being absolutely unbelievable with us”, he said.
“When they sing my name or call me the special one I don’t know what to do and feel a bit embarrassed”.
“When you are champions and winning matches, you wave, you share the emotion with the people”.
Chelsea striker Diego Costa has discussed the idea of a return to former club Atletico Madrid and concluded: “You never know”.
Mourinho thanked the Chelsea fans for their patience, a virtue he rarely experienced from supporters during his tenure at Spanish giants Real Madrid. If they did, they don’t treat me like this. To Mourinho’s defence however, the Spaniard has been a mere shadow himself when compared to last season.
“If I want to throw the bib at him it would have been impossible to fail because I was very close”.
22-year-old Patrick Bamford was the man on fire last season while he was on loan at Middlesbrough in the Championship. He was doing so well and showing some great qualities as a manager.
“It’s a surprise but it’s the reality in this moment in football”.
“The main thing you’ve got to think about is you’ve got the best manager in the world there… fact”.
Mourinho was delighted with application of his stars midweek and believes the Cherries defeat was just a minor setback as they aim to chase down the leading pack.
He added: ‘First of all they deserve to be where they are.
Sending Juan Cuadrado out on loan certainly wasn’t the wisest decision by Mourinho this season, maybe the Colombian could have had a hand to play for Chelsea and get them going but the Blues can do something in the transfer market with a player out on loan at a Premier League club.
“What we are now having regularly is lots of clean sheets, very few goals conceded. We are in this defensive stability now”. But the way they played against Porto, they have to score goals.
“Sooner or later goals are coming”.
