Jose Aldo Wants Rematch With Conor McGregor Following UFC 194
In the post-fight press conference, McGregor was asked about his accurate prediction of how the fight would pan out.
This article has been updated to clarify that this was the shortest title fight in UFC history, not the shortest fight.
Conor McGregor didn’t just win the UFC’s featherweight title Saturday night, he won a spot alongside Ronda Rousey on the cover of EA Sports’ “UFC 2” video game.
Aldo took time to thank his fans and those in Brazil for their support.
But that doesn’t fall in line with McGregor’s plans.
McGregor floored Jose Aldo with a thunderous shot, unifying the featherweight titles and leaving his mark on the sport.
“I will have one belt on one shoulder and one on the other”. I see these sequences. “If you become vocal with it, you create the law of attraction….” I knew he would overextend and I knew I’d catch him.
While it’s not a fair scenario for Edgar, it would seem to be the most logical one should Conor decide to bang with the boys up north. “That was really not a fight so we need to get back in here”. You can say he let his eagerness or the moment get the best of him, or he simply got hammered by a perfectly-timed strike. Riggs, the former WEC middleweight champion, was of the opinion that McGregor didn’t stand a chance against Brazilian Aldo, who recently celebrated ten years of staying undefeated in mixed martial arts. McGregor anticipated the punch, stepped back, and cracked the advancing Aldo square on the jaw with a left hook.
“I respect Jose, I wish him well but now we are on to the next chapter”.
Newly minted UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor wants another title: pay-per-view king.
“That was that”, Aldo said. “He felt the pressure like he’d never felt before because he was facing me”. He was happy today, he hit me with a good punch.
For his part, Edgar was hoping to get the nod as McGregor’s next opponent, possibly at UFC 198, which will take place on April 23, 2016.
“He was a brash young man, he still is a brash young man, and he was already predicting the stuff he was going to do”, remembers MMA fighter Chris Fields of SBG who has trained with McGregor for all that time.
