Jose hails Rashford; will drop Mkhitaryan, Lingard
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has blamed referee Mark Clattenburg for his side’s 1-2 loss in yesterday’s Manchester derby on home ground at Old Trafford.
The result left United with nine points from their opening four games and meant that City extended their 100 per cent start to the season under new manager Pep Guardiola.
Martial does not fit that mould and therefore did not start, but Lingard and Mkhitaryan failed to perform and were substituted at half-time.
The pair were removed at half-time and the hosts looked much more risky with the introduction of Ander Herrera and Marcus Rashford in their place.
But already he seems out of sorts, out of the team and could be the latest to fall victim to Mourinho’s management.
Manager Jose Mourinho told the media, in regards to Rashford: “For me, the next big game is against Feyenoord and he is going to play”.
Mourinho and Guardiola had a fierce rivalry while they were managing in La Liga, but have tried to play it down in recent days. “I’m happy it gives an effect but, even if I was not here, they would still do good”. Is it their fault?
“You need to be sharp the way you think and the way you play”. We have 16 Conclusions for you from the game.
United managed to grab one back before just before half time but could not conjure more goals despite a much improved second half showing.
Manchester United star Zlatan Ibrahimovic says that Marcus Rashford’s time will come, but patience is needed for the 18-year-old to meet the high level of expectations on his shoulders.
“But in the first half we controlled it, we conceded maybe one or two counter-attacks, no more”.
“In the first half they were much better than us”. Especially when you don’t know them so well after a couple of months, it’s too early to know them really well.
