Jose Iglesias shoves Tigers teammate James McCann during dugout argument
Tempers often flare even in the best dugouts. Tensions boiled over in the sixth inning as the Tigers trailed the last-place Red Sox 7-2.
Usually the anger is directed at opponents, but Detroit Tigers teammates James McCann and Jose Iglesias went at each other in the dugout Friday night at Comerica Park.
Iglesias got a bad jump on a Rusney Castillo single earlier in the top half of the inning, and Xander Bogaerts doubled in two more runs immediately after.
Television cameras caught McCann pointing towards the field before Iglesias responded with a shove.
McCann did not elaborate on the confrontation or anything else about the game after offering, “It’s an in-house subject, and we got it taken care of”.
Nick Castellanos restrains Iglesias and outfielder Anthony Gose later chimes in, saying something heated to the shortstop.
The Tigers are two games under.500.
