Jose Mourinho: ‘Champions’ Chelsea only have FA Cup left to fight for
The manager admits that the other team was good, they did manage to score once.
Just minutes after the final whistle, Mourinho and his United players learned their fate in the competition.
“I thought in the same week was Champions League against Barcelona and the cup final against Liverpool and in the middle of it, we had the FA Cup against Newcastle”.
“Since I came to England every game – especially in the FA Cup – is like a final”, he said.
As well as things have been going for the self-proclaimed “Special One” of late, he desperately needs a trophy with his side so far off the pace in the Premier League title race. As you become a more experienced player you realise that you must think about the next game only, otherwise it would be a mistake.
“In my case, I immediately had that situation with the match at Newcastle. I don’t want to be speaking about it”.
In the other ties, Middlesbrough will host Huddersfield or Manchester City; Tottenham, who won 3-0 at Fulham yesterday, will be at home to Millwall; and the victor of tonight’s clash between Sutton United and Arsenal will welcome Lincoln City.
Goals from Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic cancelled out Danny Graham’s opener to send the Red Devils through to the next round to take on Chelsea. I mean, at this stage of the competition you’re going to be facing a good team no matter where you go. He said: “When we analyse the game I think we performed very well”.
“They are carrying all before them, they are on a great run of form”.
‘Our boys were really good, it is impossible to do better than what we did, ‘ the United manager told MUTV.
Mourinho’s men are also set to face Southampton in the EFL Cup final on February 26. New manager Antonio Conte has done an exceptional job to turn fortunes around for the London outfit, and they will be looking to complete a league and cup double by winning the FA Cup. Let’s hope they do.
“They’ve got a big game next week in the final”.
