Jose Mourinho confirms Rashford will be his main striker against Feyenoord
Jose Mourinho has drawn his conclusions from the derby defeat against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, and revealed which United star will start the next game, as well as which two players will be axed.
Jose Mourinho has identified Eric Bailly as Manchester United’s best player in the defeat to Manchester City.
“I trust him completely”.
“I didn’t know if I would play or not because we have so many good players that we have many options”. He is mainly a number nine – if you want to play him in different positions, we need to work him, we need to improve him, but his big personality is there.
Now Mourinho has confirmed that he will drop the duo for Thursday night’s Europa League game against Feyenoord, as he is set to ring the changes for his first European assignment of the season.
“I felt City had the fragility on the sides and the kid could give us in the second half on the sides what we didn’t get with Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Jesse Lingard in the first half”, Mourinho added.
De Bruyne shone as Manuel Pellegrini’s side reached the Champions League semi-finals, but they fell short in the Premier League and only just pipped Manchester United to fourth spot.
“It’s been a special day for me, playing in the Manchester derby and scoring a goal – I am really happy and proud”, the Nigeria worldwide told reporters. But this is football and sometimes players disappoint managers. “So if you are asking me if they are going to play against Feyenoord then it’s no”. Well, it is my fault because I am the manager and it is my choice. “But Ander Herrera came on and he was phenomenal in his attitude”.
“Obviously everybody has his own style and you need to adapt to it, but I think everyone is working really hard – even the guys coming in, they do it perfectly”. It was an important game, but let’s be realistic, the season has just started and there is still a long way to go.
