Jose Mourinho praises Chelsea’s Premier League title rivals, talks Abramovich

Mourinho, now in his second stint as manager with Chelsea, has won three Premier League titles, two League Cups, one FA Cup and one Community Shield with the London-based club.

Mourinho said: “I don’t want to make a story of it. If you walk in the street you are not obliged to say hello or shake your hand with anyone”. In any case it is good to have broken the run against Chelsea and regain some ascendancy.

Mourinho protested that the “best team lost” and said that by putting “nine players in front of the box”, Arsenal had left “their philosophy in the dressing room”. “That means there will be some hard questions for the manager to answer and for the team on how we can cope with the difficulties”, the German centre-back added. He spoke afterwards about his belief in “respect”.

Cahill didn’t appear to be too concerned over the defeat, instead has focused his mind-set on Chelsea’s final pre-season fixture against Fiorentina, explaining that “We’re confident, we have a good squad and another game on Wednesday”.

The Frenchman’s jinx against his Portuguese counterpart was finally broken, but while he will have been thrilled to have at last overcome Mourinho; Wenger will have been more than enthused by Oxlade-Chamberlain’s performance at Wembley. They have affected his time with Chelsea, Spain and former club Atletico Madrid. Last season he looked to me like a player who knew what to do and where to be on the pitch but his body couldn’t carry him there. “That’s what he wants and demands from his players as well”.

“They were more concerned once we were 1-0 up to protect our lead than to play. And Man United with everything: the history, the players, the investment”.

“I think we’ve learnt over the years how to play against the bigger teams now”.

Whilst some may not take the game seriously and class it as a friendly, for everyone involved and the fans of those respective clubs winning the first trophy of the season is certainly important.
