Jose Mourinho resumes rivalry with Arsene Wenger
The pair’s relationship on the touchline and away from it has been intriguing over the years, with the Portuguese calling his Arsenal counterpart a “specialist in failure” in early 2014.
One thing for sure it has always been a motivation for Mourinho and Wenger. But, predictably, Mourinho does not see it that way.
The dynamic of the rivalry has changed significantly, and Saturday’s game at Old Trafford won’t decide the Premier League title.
“Sir Alex Ferguson is not here any more”.
“Every manager will tell you what hurts really is losing a football game, all the rest you forget”, Wenger told Sky Sports. Tomorrow, between the two managers, we’re speaking about six or seven Premier League titles, I think.
“What you never forget is disappointing people, to have a disappointing result and to not play well”.
The post Wenger more respected than me, complains Mourinho appeared first on Vanguard News. “What will make the audience is the quality of the game”.
I think it’s all being blown out of proportion but I love the distraction.
“That is what will remain in the mind of the people”.
“I get the occasion to wish Gary the best of luck publicly, but I think you have to build something to protect what is not yours, what someone lends you”.
Recall that Arsenal last won the EPL title at the 2003/2004 season when the club finished unbeaten. The two teams have draw 49 times.
He added: “I’m at the club where I want to be”. Mourinho says that chapter is closed now and that his skipper is fit to face Arsenal. I don’t say a word about Chris Smalling. “He will fight for his team and I will fight for my team and I think that’s completely normal”.
“Of course I will shake hands”.
Saturday would be an ideal time to end that drought, with United looking to kickstart their campaign and move back to within touching distance of the Premier League’s top four.
Hector Bellerin is definitely out after injuring his ankle in the 1-1 draw with Tottenham ahead of the worldwide break and joins Santi Cazorla, Lucas Perez, Per Mertesacker and former United striker Danny Welbeck in missing the trip to Old Trafford. The English worldwide has not been able to keep himself fit under the new manager and has been criticized for his lack of commitment.
United are already without Eric Bailly at centre-half with the Ivory Coast global sidelined with a knee ligament injury.
Luke Shaw is still on Mourinho’s enemy list, and not in the United side, so it was hard to make a case for his inclusion, despite arguably being the most talented of the three players.
Southampton have a big task this weekend going up against league leaders Liverpool.
“Last season is a great example”.
But Klopp is hopeful Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino will both be able to feature after jetting back from worldwide duty with Brazil. The next day Bild said “That is how Klopp celebrates 18th!”
I don’t like the managerial statistics on this game simple because my boss Arsene Wenger doesn’t have any stats to speak of.
Probably, then, the last team it would want to see arriving at Selhurst Park on Saturday is Pep Guardiola’s free-scoring Man City side. Aside from a victory over Swansea before the worldwide break, recent results include a draw at home to Burnley and a thumping at Chelsea. This isn’t the first time the left back will be criticised by his manager.
“The team did well”.
Wenger has been playing Alexis Sanchez as his main striker for much of the campaign to date and it has paid dividends as the former Barcelona man has already scored eight goals.
