Jose Mourinho to be sacked by Chelsea? ‘No chance!’ says agent
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho says he has never received greater support than the “amazing” reception given to him by fans during the Champions League win over Dynamo Kiev at Stamford Bridge.
The summer signing came off the bench on Wednesday night as Chelsea secured a late 2-1 victory over Dynamo Kyiv in the Champions League.
The Chelsea boss has come under fire so far this season for his side’s dismal results and rotten football, so he will no doubt hope the midweek win finally means the turning of a corner.
While Mourinho has been under pressure in recent weeks, the Chelsea fans have supported him throughout and they were again in full voice at Stamford Bridge for the midweek clash.
“This is my moment”.
“Everyone, players, coaches, you have good moments and bad moments”. Or they don’t listen to television and pundits and commentators.
“I was always impressed when I saw Liverpool at Anfield, when we beat them 4-1 and, in the last 10 minutes, Anfield was singing for that team”.
In two of their previous three home matches, Chelsea had taken the lead only to wilt after conceding an equaliser, but on this occasion refused to succumb and duly moved second in Group G, three points adrift of leaders Porto. I knew it would be hard to score and they are good on the counter attack. “And the fans showed their passion for the club”.
“I repeat, if the FA want to punish me, they can punish me, they don’t punish other managers, they punish me – it’s not a problem for me”.
“I think, from a mental point of view, it was important to provide a reaction to a negative moment”.
The Kiev side were more dynamic after the interval and Dragović made amends for his first-half mistake by taking advantage of Chelsea’s weak defence; he equalised for Dynamo in the 77th minute. “The most important thing is to finish second [and qualify] but we can still finish first”.
Mourinho added: “He’s playing very well, not just today. I am doing quite good but I think I have to improve my game and we will see what happens”.
