Jose Mourinho: Tottenham draw was the best Chelsea performance of the season
“If he wants to hurt me it would not be with a bib”.
Jose Mourinho says there is “no issue” with Diego Costa after leaving the striker on the bench against Tottenham.
Costa has been out of form for Chelsea this term after a great campaign last season, and it appears manager Jose Mourinho has fresh ideas for his attack. The reaction to the incident from the Chelsea bench was nearly universally stone-faced with Costa’s teammates either choosing to ignore or simply not noticing his strop. “We are happy with the decision”.
Mourinho had initially ruled him out of the game at White Hart lane but said on Friday: “Today he didn’t train, but we have a little hope that it’s possible”. And Pedro is a good player, he’s a risky player.
Hugo Lloris: The France worldwide made the crucial save from Eden Hazard in the second half to keep Chelsea out.
Mourinho thinks that Spurs” top-four rivals are comparatively under more pressure than themselves as no-one thinks of Tottenham as “title-contenders’.
His focus until the turn of the year is on Chelsea finding momentum, continuing at a venue where they have one win in the last 10 visits and lost 5-3 on New Year’s Day in a performance which exposed frailties which are now familiar. We deserved more. We tried to win it. I think Chelsea will be happy with the point.
