Joseph Gordon-Levitt supports Edward Snowden

Gordon-Levitt’s film, “Snowden“, comes to theaters on December 25.
“Certainly there was that note, that he very much would like to come home”, he said.
“He doesn’t want to live in Russian Federation at all“, Gordon-Levitt told The Guardian of Snowden, whom he met earlier this year.
“I left knowing without a doubt that what [Snowden] did, he did because he believed it was the right thing to do, that he believed it would help the country he loves”, he said. Following his beliefs on Edward, the actor does not want to preach that his beliefs about him are correct, but he wants to encourage people to decide for themselves if the whistleblower was right or not.
“That is what I believe – that what he did was right.”
In addition to Gordon-Levitt, Snowden boasts a star-studded case including Nicolas Cage, Scott Eastwood, Tom Wilkinson, Timothy Olyphant, Shailene Woodley, Melissa Leo and Zachary Quinto. On the contrary, in an interview with The Guardian, the 34-year-old actor spilled the beans about meeting with Snowden before the filming began. “Even though that is what I believe – that what he did was right”.
The actor had good things to say about Snowden revealing that he was in “good spirits” and was “warm, kind, and thoughtful”.
Gordon-Levitt will next been seen in the Robert Zemeckis film “The Walk“, in which he’ll be playing another real-life figure, Philippe Petit.
He also saw similarities between Snowden and Philippe Petit, the World Trade Center funambulist who Gordon-Levitt also plays in the upcoming “The Walk“.
Gordon-Levitt argued on Friday that Snowden acted ethically by exposing the NSA’s spying two years ago.
