JP: Warmer temperatures for Thanksgiving
The official high temperature in Indy today was 62 degrees. This morning, that area of high pressure is over the Carolinas, giving us a southerly flow of warm, moist air off the Gulf of Mexico behind that high. There’s also a threat of rain early Saturday, based on early forecasts and highs should only reach the low 50s. Calm wind becoming south around 6 miles per hour in the afternoon.
Temperatures in northeastern Colorado will start to drop late in the morning Wednesday and are expected to dip below freezing by nightfall, the weather service reports.
Thanksgiving is still forecast to feature a daytime high temperature in the low 60s, and a nighttime low of 51 degrees.
Tuesday will be the last day we may see sunshine in a while and have no precipitation chance for a week as an active pattern will set up starting tonight. Amounts will be lighter further to the southeast with one to three inches possible over NW LA and E TX.
Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 37. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 23. Temperatures Tuesday will still be cooler than normal for much of the central and eastern United States and warmer than normal around the Rockies and Plains. That means precipitation falling on both days should fall as rain.
Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 54.
There’s a better chance for steady rain on Sunday, but even then, the day shouldn’t be a total washout. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 22. There will be a chance of rain each day through mid next week. The overnight low will be around 25 degrees. Right now, a few showers are possible Friday night.
