JT: Falcao one of best I faced last season
Chelsea FC took part in the North American version of the global Champions Cup in the United States – only recently returning to England – and the Blues’ skipper shared his thoughts with American soccer podcast Men in Blazers following his team’s penalty shoot-out victory against Barcelona in Washington.
Mourinho has been impressed with the Colombian global since he arrived in London and he has suggested that Falcao and Loic Remy could each regularly feature in a front two during the upcoming campaign.
In Falcao, Mourinho now has a true No. 9 who has been displaying some false form, but there is every reason to believe that he is an upgrade on last season’s Drogba if he is used both sparingly and correctly.
But despite his struggles at Old Trafford, new teammate John Terry has already praised the 29-year-old by declaring him the best striker he faced last term.
“But it all comes down to trophies and what I’ve won and at the end of my career I will look back and I will be very, very proud with what I have achieved if it finished tomorrow”.
“I like him a lot as a player“, he said. Because he’s a predator in the box and a guy who does score goals all the time. The team was closing the lines and playing in the opposition half.
“At the start, I just worry that he adapts and that he is happy, we are happy with him and he performs and they give us what we want”.
“For me, him and Harry Kane [Tottenham] were the best players I came up against last season“.
“I use it to my advantage because nine times out of 10 if I can stay focused and keep the team focused we are going to come out as winners”.
The player could make his debut for Chelsea on English soil in the Community Shield clash with Arsenal this weekend, as Diego Costa continues to nurse a damaged hamstring. Regardless of what people think or say, you can’t take away what I’ve done in the game.
“To become again a super scorer, let’s see what happens”.
