Juan Mata: ‘These are happy days for Manchester United’

Juan Mata has rallied his Manchester United team-mates to keep up their good form after going top of the Premier League table.

“I said to the security guy: “You are now a security guy of a club that [is] top of the league” and that makes a huge difference”.

Wayne Rooney says that “hopefully everyone will concentrate on me playing my football now” after proving everybody wrong with his knee against the Premier League’s bottom club Sunderland.

Defender Paddy McNair also took part after he recovered from the injury that sidelined him for the last two games.

Manchester United have replaced Manchester City as English Premier League football leaders after the cross-town rivals recorded contrasting results in this morning’s matches. Rooney had another United newcomer, Anthony Martial, to thank for his goal, just after the re-start.

Wolfsburg was thrashed 5-1 by Bayern Munich last week as Robert Lewandowski netted five goals in nine minutes, but Van Gaal has warned Dieter Hecking’s men should not be underestimated.

City lost for the second week running, this time at White Hart Lane where Harry Kane opened his account for the season with Spurs’ third goal.
